The Challenges

Valis Bioscience’s reliance on manual, Excel-based processes for neurological patient assessment methods resulted in several inefficiencies:

  • Time-Consuming & Error-Prone Processes

Therapists and researchers had to administer and document assessments manually, leading to errors, inefficiencies, and difficulties in managing patient records. The process was not scalable, making it challenging to track longitudinal patient progress and treatment effectiveness.

  • Limited Flexibility for On-Premise and Remote Assessments

There was no digital infrastructure to conduct both virtual surveys in on-premise and remote settings. This limitation restricted data collection methods, making patient participation and follow-ups less efficient.

  • Disorganized Patient Data

Patient data, assessment forms, and therapist analyses were scattered across multiple platforms, lacking a centralized repository. This disjointed system made it difficult to access patient history, compare assessments over time, and derive actionable insights from the collected data.

  • Lack of Actionable Analytical Insights

The existing system provided limited data analytics, making it difficult for therapists and researchers to extract meaningful insights from patient assessments. Without automated reporting and trend analysis, identifying patterns in patient progress, treatment effectiveness, and long-term health outcomes was challenging.

The Solution

We partnered with Valis Bioscience to develop a comprehensive digital platform that transforms patient assessments into a structured, data-driven process. The solution consists of three key components:

ACAM (Video-Based Therapy and Clinical Assessment System)

We developed ACAM, a secure platform for recording, storing, and managing therapy sessions. This system enables therapists to record and review up to 8-hour-long patient sessions, allowing for in-depth clinical assessments. Assessments are categorized based on symptoms, treatment phases, and behavioral patterns, ensuring a structured evaluation process. All data is securely stored in the cloud, providing therapists with easy access to past sessions while maintaining compliance with data privacy regulations

eCOA (Electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment)

To improve diagnostic accuracy and streamline evaluations, we built eCOA, a structured digital assessment platform. The system offers customizable digital assessment forms, tailored to specific neurological conditions, allowing for flexible and condition-specific evaluations. Automated data validation reduces human error and enhances assessment reliability, ensuring consistency in patient evaluations. Additionally, support for text-based and interactive assessments makes evaluations more comprehensive and adaptive to individual patient needs.

Web-Based Portal for ACAM & eCOA Management

A centralized web-based portal was developed to integrate ACAM and eCOA, providing real-time access to patient records, therapy session data, and progress reports. The portal features advanced analytics dashboards, allowing therapists to track treatment effectiveness and patient progress. Role-based access control ensures data security and compliance, restricting sensitive data access to authorized users. Additionally, automated report generation minimizes administrative workload, improving documentation accuracy and efficiency.
