While users received detailed health reports, the platform lacked an interactive way to help them interpret their results or get answers to follow-up questions. From body composition data and metabolic guidance to wearable metrics and general health queries, users needed real-time, contextual support. Without it, they often turned to external sources or relied on limited manual customer service, leading to fragmented and inconsistent user experiences.
The platform collected data from multiple sources, including wearable devices and video-based assessments, but interpreting and consolidating this data into meaningful, actionable insights was a challenge. A solution was needed to automate data interpretation while ensuring seamless integration with HealthReel’s assessment technology.
As HealthReel’s user base grew, the system required a robust cloud infrastructure that could support real-time queries, automated responses, and secure health data processing without performance bottlenecks.
Providing users with accurate, science-backed health information required access to a broad database of medical and wellness knowledge. Without a structured way to fetch and deliver relevant health insights, users risked getting generic or inconsistent advice. HealthReel needed a data-driven AI system that could pull from verified open-source medical resources while maintaining relevance to individual health profiles.

Get the full case studyWe built an advanced conversational AI assistant designed to interpret user health data, provide context-aware responses, and support multi-step conversations on topics such as nutrition, fitness, weight management, and preventive healthcare. The bot leverages OpenAI’s open-source health data to ensure evidence-based insights, helping users make informed health decisions.
Using Node.js and Python, we developed a backend system capable of processing real-time health metrics from assessment reports. The AI assistant analyzes user data, generates customized health recommendations, and provides risk assessments related to weight management, cardiovascular health, and metabolic function, offering tailored insights for long-term wellness planning.
To ensure high availability, seamless performance, and secure access, we deployed the AI assistant on AWS Lambda, allowing for on-demand scalability as the user base grows. The system supports secure, HIPAA-compliant data processing for sensitive health information while maintaining low-latency AI responses for real-time interactions. Additionally, AWS Cognito was implemented for user authentication, ensuring secure login management, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and role-based access control, safeguarding user data and privacy.
With the AI-powered assistant, HealthReel users can now receive instant, personalized health insights, engage in interactive conversations on diet, exercise, and supplementation, and access detailed risk assessments for long-term health management. The chatbot's responsive, user-friendly interface enhances daily app engagement, improving retention and overall user experience.
