“ I was blown away by their systematic approach to helping clients like myself to meet their goals. The great thing about Code District is that they do embrace industry standards in terms of methodology which includes retrospectives, so they are very good at making adjustments to what is working well and what can be improved with each client.”

BVC faced critical challenges with its Rackspace infrastructure, particularly during high-demand survey periods. The system lacked scalability, often slowing down or experiencing outages when traffic surged, which significantly impacted user experience and survey reliability. High operational costs further compounded the problem, as manual resource provisioning and rigid pricing models increased expenses. Compliance with GDPR regulations was another pressing concern, as Rackspace lacked the necessary tools to ensure robust data protection, leaving sensitive client information vulnerable. Additionally, the platform offered limited monitoring capabilities, delaying issue detection and hindering timely resolution. These limitations made infrastructure migration essential for BVC’s continued growth and operational efficiency.
To modernize BVC’s infrastructure and ensure seamless scalability, we executed a Lift-and-Shift migration to AWS. This approach enhanced system performance, security, and efficiency while ensuring zero downtime. Key improvements included:
Get the full case studyAWS Auto Scaling and Load Balancers enabled dynamic resource allocation, supporting 30,000+ concurrent users without slowdowns. The new cloud-based setup automatically adjusts to demand, preventing slowdowns even during peak usage.
Tedious manual processes, such as handling survey data and generating reports were automated with AWS Lambda and optimized data retrieval using Redis caching via ElastiCache.
AWS WAF, IAM policies, and Secrets Manager ensured GDPR compliance, encrypted data, and real-time threat protection. These advanced security measures now protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with global regulations.
The new system built on Amazon RDS Aurora (Multi-AZ) is more stable, reducing unexpected downtime, improving database reliability, reducing latency by 40% while boosting system availability.
CI/CD pipeline with AWS CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CloudWatch enabled automated releases and real-time system insights. With automated processes in place, new features and improvements can be deployed much faster.
AWS DMS ensured zero-downtime database transfer, with Route 53 managing DNS switchover for a smooth transition.
reduction in downtime, now under 1 hour annually for continuous availability
faster response times, improving survey processing and report generation
scalability boost, handling peak survey loads effortlessly
lower infrastructure costs, optimizing resource allocation
less manual intervention, freeing IT for strategic tasks
GDPR compliance, ensuring data security and regulatory adherence
higher customer satisfaction, driven by reliability and faster processing
